This program, funded through EETT, focuses on using technology in math and science classes as a tool to engage middle school students in authentic learning opportunities to achieve content standards. Participating schools receive intensive professional development, resources such as Gizmos, the Futures Channel, and Digital Curriculum, and equipment such as student laptop carts, SmartBoards, and voting devices. Three middle schools in Local District 6, Gage, South Gate, and Nimitz, are participating in this project.
Develops and maintains computer software/hardware systems via the HELP Desk, provides telecommunication services and maintains the District's networks, and enhances the information resources available to all schools and offices.
IWT-Independent Work Time
Independent Work Time (also know as Workshop) is a key component of the Open Court Rreading program. IWT serves two important purposes. First, it is an opportunity for students to develop as independent thinkers and learners. It is a workshop occupied by a community of learners. Second, it is an opportunity for teachers to provide differentiated instruction. It is the in-class intervention period for pre-referral intervention.
